Paying Attention to the Rise of your Bra’s Band is One Key to a Great Fitting Bra

When it comes to bra size and fitting issues, the first place that you should look to correct is your bra band. This elasticized band is designed specifically to do the heavy lifting for you and your breasts. It’s responsible for eighty to ninety percent of their total weight while your straps should only carry ten to twenty percent. For this reason, it should sit snugly on your chest at all times. That’s snugly, not tight. You should be able to comfortably insert one to two fingers between the band and your body. A tightly fitted bra will tend to impede proper circulation whereas a well-fitted bra will provide you with lift and support during the day.

Signs of a Loose Fit

It should come as no surprise, however, that most of us are wearing bras that are too loose rather than too tight. Even ahh bra that once fit tightly can loosen over time as the elastic stretches. That is why most bras come with adjustable bands that allow you to tighten up the fit and extend the life of the garment. How can you tell if your band is becoming dangerously loose? The answer is to pay attention to your bra’s rise—particularly across your back. If the band does not sit level on your body and instead has a tendency to creep up on your body, then you are looking at a loose band.

Control the Rise

The solution? Tighten up or head out to find a better fitting bra. Proper breast support is an important key to looking and feeling your best. Knowing that you are wearing beautiful, comfortable, and well fitting undergarments will not only give you confidence, it will help you get though the day healthier and happier. Keeping an eye on your bra’s band position over time will act as an early warning system and allow you to properly fit and replace your most important foundation garments in a timely manner. Eyes on the rise!
