Needing a bra is an important time in the life of a young girl. When she starts to develop she may be both thrilled and confused, and you should be sure to spend a lot of time talking with her about how her body will change, so that she can feel more comfortable. Another thing you will need to do is to start shopping for a bra. Training bras are the logical first step, as they are designed for young girls who are just starting to develop and don’t yet need the support of a standard bra. They can also help young girls get used to the feel of a bra and how to wear it comfortably.
When buying your daughter’s first bra, consider her age. Children are developing and hitting puberty much earlier in life today than they were years ago. Because of that, your daughter may be much younger than you expect when you have to buy that first bra. There are plenty of options for cute training bras that your daughter can feel comfortable wearing. If she is starting to develop enough that her chest is no longer flat in a t-shirt, a bra may be in order. That is especially important if her development is noticeable to others at school or other places.
Don’t be concerned if your child develops early or later than what you expect or what you feel is “normal.” As long as her pediatrician doesn’t see any problems, you don’t need to worry. Just be there to talk to her in case she becomes concerned as her body changes, or as others around her change and she lags behind.
Her first bra is important, but so is the experience of buying it at the right time, when she feels ready and comfortable. As a parent, you can help her feel better about herself, and you can shop for a bra that she likes and wants to wear.
